HOW IT WORKS

A useful estimate.
Not a final procedure.

Travel and coverage

For circumferential scans, we calculate travel from the pipe or tank diameter. For axial pipe scans and vertical tank scans, we use the scan length you enter.

You can also include multiple inspection areas or tank courses.

Acquisition speed

For conventional UT, the calculator looks at PRF, averaging, and encoder increment. For phased array, it also accounts for focal laws and groups.

Before you scan

Real-world conditions can change the final time. Surface condition, access, couplant, obstructions, equipment settings, and your inspection procedure all matter.

Always confirm the final scan plan with the equipment manufacturer and a qualified Level III.
